SIA CCTV Course East London

The SIA CCTV Course East London is a 3-day programme leading to the SIA CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) qualification. First, you complete the mandatory classroom training. Then you move onto live equipment, and finally you sit your examinations. Altogether, the course meets the 27 hours of guided learning the SIA requires. Because our trainers have worked real control room shifts, you learn the legislation alongside how the job actually works.

Course Content

Unit 1: Working Within the Private Security Industry First, you cover UK security legislation and your legal responsibilities as a licensed operative. In addition, the unit deals with professional standards, health and safety, fire safety and emergency response. Finally, you work on the communication and customer service skills the role depends on.

Unit 2: Working as a CCTV Operator Next, you learn what the job involves day to day. Specifically, this covers CCTV codes of practice, data protection law, and how to monitor public spaces properly. Furthermore, you practise reporting incidents, keeping accurate records, and working with security teams and the emergency services.

Unit 3: Practical Operation of CCTV Equipment Finally, you move into the control room. Here you operate the monitoring equipment, control cameras, and learn surveillance techniques. Above all, you practise spotting suspicious activity and recording incidents correctly, because that is what employers judge you on.

Assessment

You sit written multiple-choice examinations for Units 1 and 2 on the final day. Meanwhile, your trainer assesses Unit 3 by watching you operate the equipment. As a result, there is no separate assessment day to return for. Afterwards, we send your results within 14 to 15 working days by email or SMS.

SIA CCTV Course East London: Location and Accessibility

The SIA CCTV Course East London runs from our centre at E7 9HZ. Forest Gate station on the Elizabeth line sits a short walk away, so you can reach us in one stop from Stratford or directly from Liverpool Street. In addition, Woodgrange Park and Wanstead Park stations are nearby.

Therefore learners travel easily from Stratford, Manor Park, Upton Park, Plaistow, East Ham, Leyton, Ilford and across Newham, without crossing London to train. Because Unit 3 is hands-on, we also keep group sizes small, so everyone gets proper time on the equipment. Once you book, we send full address details and joining instructions.

What You Need Before You Book

You must be 18 or over with the right to work in the UK. Also, bring a passport or driving licence, two proofs of address from the last three months, and two passport photographs. However, you do not need previous CCTV or security experience.

Once you pass, you apply for your badge through the SIA licence application service. Since approval can take up to eight weeks, apply as soon as your results arrive.

Career Opportunities After the SIA CCTV Course East London

Once you hold your licence, you can work as a CCTV Operator in shopping centres, or as a control room operator, public space surveillance operator, corporate CCTV monitor, retail security monitor or event surveillance operator.

Meanwhile, many operators also hold a Door Supervisor badge, because a second licence widens the sites and shifts open to them. For that reason, our SIA Door Supervisor Course East London runs six days at the same venue, while the SIA Security Guard Course East London takes four.
