It covers door work, guarding, searching, conflict management and physical intervention, and this booking includes the Emergency First Aid certificate the SIA asks for with the application.
At Ilford this course starts every Monday. There are 14 dates open to book now, listed below with the day each one starts. The course runs over 6 days, 9am to 6pm each day. Every session counts towards the SIA's minimum hours, so plan to be there for all of it.
The full fee is £350. You pay £100 online when you book and the remaining £250 at the centre on your first day. The deposit is not refundable, because your place is registered and the trainer is arranged as soon as you book, but you can move to another date once, free of charge, with at least 48 hours notice.
Training is at Olympic House, Level 3, Room 317A, 28 to 42 Clements Road, Ilford IG1 1BA, opposite City Gates Church. Olympic House is opposite City Gates Church, about five minutes on foot from Ilford station on the Elizabeth line. Olympic House on Clements Road is five minutes from Ilford station, so the centre draws from Barking, Romford and the whole of the Elizabeth line east of Stratford.
Mostly people starting out in security and people moving from guarding to door work, because the Door Supervisor licence covers both. You need to be 18 or over with the right to work in the UK. No security experience is needed, and the exams are taken at the centre at the end of the course.
Photo ID (a passport or UK driving licence), two recent proofs of address and three passport photos. You also need your two free ACT certificates from ProtectUK before day one. The joining instructions walk you through getting them.
The full syllabus, the units and exams, and the questions people ask before booking are on the SIA Door Supervisor course.
