SIA Door Supervisor + First Aid in Aldgate

Your career in security starts with this course. The SIA Door Supervisor Course Aldgate runs over six days at 6 Osborn Street, E1 6TD, and takes you from no experience at all to holding the qualification the SIA needs before it will issue your licence. All four mandatory units are covered, Emergency First Aid is built into the same six days, and every examination is sat at the centre, so you finish the week with your certificate and an application ready to submit.

No previous security background is needed. Most people who walk through the door on day one have never worked in the industry, and our instructors teach the law in plain language alongside what actually happens on a busy door at one in the morning. That is a large part of why our pass rate sits at 98%.

The door supervisor badge is also the most useful licence to hold. It covers pubs, bars and nightclubs, but equally hotels, stadiums, festivals, retail, construction gates and corporate reception work, and it covers every function a Security Guard licence covers, which does not work in reverse.

Course Content

The SIA Door Supervisor Course Aldgate is built around four mandatory units, taught in order across the six days.

  • Unit 1: Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry. Legal responsibilities, licensing law, health and safety, fire and emergency procedures, communication, customer care and reporting.
  • Unit 2: Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor. Duties on the door, behavioural profiling, searching and the law around consent, refusals and ejections, reasonable force, drug awareness, safeguarding and evidence.
  • Unit 3: Conflict Management in the Private Security Industry. Recognising triggers, communication under pressure, de-escalation, working as a team during an incident and post incident reporting.
  • Unit 4: Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry. The legal framework, positional asphyxia and medical risk, disengagement, low level restraint and safe escorting.

Emergency First Aid at Work is included in the fee on the SIA Door Supervisor Course Aldgate. It covers CPR, use of a defibrillator, the recovery position, catastrophic bleeding, choking, shock and burns, in line with the syllabus updated in October 2024.

Course Assessment

Assessment on the SIA Door Supervisor Course Aldgate happens as the week runs, not in a block at the end. Each of the four units is assessed by a multiple choice examination, and your physical intervention technique is assessed by observation during the practical sessions rather than in a separate exam. Mock papers are worked through during the week so that nobody sits a paper cold, and your trainer marks the practical elements as the course runs, which means there is no extra assessment day to travel back for.

Emergency First Aid is assessed practically during its own session. You leave the SIA Door Supervisor Course Aldgate with both certificates.

Venue Information

The course runs at 6 Osborn Street, at the bottom of Brick Lane where it meets Whitechapel High Street. Aldgate East is one minute away on the District and Hammersmith and City lines, Aldgate covers the Circle and Metropolitan a few minutes further on, and Liverpool Street and Whitechapel both bring the Elizabeth line within a short walk.

That makes the SIA Door Supervisor Course Aldgate straightforward to reach from Whitechapel, Shoreditch, Spitalfields, Bethnal Green, Stepney, Wapping, Mile End, Bow, Poplar and Hackney, and an easy journey from Stratford, Ilford and Barking. The City of London boundary is five minutes west, where corporate and building security contracts run year round, which is useful once you are licensed as well as while you are training.
