Free SIA security mock test
Both papers of the two day Door Supervisor refresher course: 35 questions on searching, vulnerable people, terror threats and spiking, and 30 on physical intervention.
Two papers
Each paper is a separate exam on the course, so practise them one at a time.
Principles
Physical intervention
The Door Supervisor refresher is two days and ends with two short exams. The principles paper checks the knowledge that was added to the Door Supervisor qualification over recent years, so it concentrates on four things: how to search properly and lawfully, how to recognise someone who is vulnerable and what to do about it, the counter terrorism awareness taught in ACT, and drink spiking. The physical intervention paper is a shorter version of the Unit 4 exam, with the same 80 per cent pass mark, and the techniques are reassessed on the mats.
Licence holders renewing a Door Supervisor licence, including anyone whose top up course includes the door supervisor option. If you are renewing a Security Guard licence you need the shorter security guard refresher, which has its own practice test.
Take the principles paper first. It is the one most candidates have not studied before, because the vulnerable people and spiking content is new. Then sit the physical intervention paper and read every explanation on the restraint and positional asphyxia questions, whether or not you got them right.
Yes. Since 1 April 2025 the SIA requires Door Supervisor licence holders to complete the two day refresher course, with a valid first aid certificate, before it will renew the licence.
A principles paper with 35 questions in 55 minutes and a pass mark of 71 per cent, and a physical intervention paper with 30 questions in 45 minutes and a pass mark of 80 per cent. Both have a practice test on this page.
The topics added to the licence syllabus since many licence holders first qualified: searching procedure, recognising and protecting vulnerable people, terror threat awareness and drink spiking.
The SIA changed the renewal rules so that everyone whose licence expires on or after 1 April 2025 holds the current qualification. The refresher is shorter than the full course because it covers only the newer content.
Questions last checked: 20 October 2026. These are practice questions written for London SIA Course, not the official exam papers.
