    • B. Asking drivers to show their licence at the door

    • A. To guarantee that no employee is ever injured at work

How the practice tests work

Each SIA paper is a multiple choice exam with four options per question, and the SIA fixes the number of questions, the time allowed and the pass mark for every unit. Our practice tests use the same numbers, so the full test feels like the real one.

Each test comes three ways:

  • Full practice test: the whole paper with the real question count and time limit, marked at the end.
  • Quick round: ten questions and no clock, for a spare ten minutes.
  • Practice mode: the answer and the reason after every question.

Every attempt draws a fresh set of questions from a larger bank and shuffles the options, so repeating a test keeps testing you rather than your memory of the order.

Which tests do I need?

  • New Door Supervisor licence: Unit 1, the door supervisor paper, conflict management and physical intervention.
  • New Security Guard licence: Unit 1, the security guard paper and conflict management.
  • New CCTV licence: Unit 1 and the CCTV paper.
  • Renewing a Door Supervisor licence: the two door supervisor refresher papers.
  • Renewing a Security Guard licence: the security guard refresher paper.
  • The first aid day: the emergency first aid test, which every SIA course and refresher includes.

Physical searching, the physical intervention techniques and the CCTV camera practical are assessed by your trainer on the course, so they are not in the written tests.

Before the course

Two more things the centre checks on day one: your free ACT counter terrorism certificates, and the ID and documents listed in the joining instructions.

Questions about the mock tests

Are these the real SIA exam questions?

No. The real papers are confidential to the awarding bodies. Every question on this site was written by London SIA Course from the SIA's published learning outcomes, so it covers the same knowledge in the same multiple choice format.

How many papers will I sit?

Door Supervisor candidates sit four, Security Guard candidates three and CCTV candidates two. Licence renewal has its own shorter papers: two on the Door Supervisor refresher and one on the Security Guard refresher. The table above lists each paper with its question count and time limit.

Do I have to register?

No. There is nothing to sign up to and nothing to pay. Open a test, answer the questions and see your score with every answer explained. Come back as often as you like.

What is the best way to use them?

Practice mode first, to learn why each answer is right. Then the full timed test. When you pass the full test two or three times running with marks to spare, you are ready for the real paper on your course.

Where do I take the real exams?

On your course, at the training centre, on the last day of each unit. Our SIA courses run at centres across London and in Manchester and Liverpool, and you book with a deposit and pay the rest at the centre.
